Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay was an Indian Bengali short story writer and novelist. His best-known works include the autobiographical novels Pather Panchali, Aparajito, Chander Pahar, and Aranyak. He was a talented student and completed every degree with distinctions. He worked in a variety of jobs, including teacher, travelling publicist, secretary, manager of Bhagalpur estate, in music and charity,  with the full support of his family. His Pather Panchali is a masterpiece which he wrote in Ghatsila. When he was in the Bhagalpur estate, he wrote Aranyak, and when he was in Bongaon, he wrote Pather Panchali, Adarsha Hindu Hotel, Ichamati, and Bipiner Sansar. His other famous creation is Taranath Tantrik, which he later extended by his son, Taradas Bandyopadhyay. Bandyopadhyay passed away on November 1, 1950, in Ghatshila. The cause of death was determined to be a heart attack.
